NoMoore

The smell of coffee, the chit-chat surrounding me, and the upbeat indie music in the background could not distract me from the angelic figure in front of me. When Nicolette Moore entered Red Cup she was followed by a beam of light. It was like the sunshine followed her wherever she went. 

Moore is a 23-year-old multi-media artist who goes by the stage name NoMoore. She makes Hypnagogic Pop music and adds an art piece to her albums and EPs. 

Hypnagogic pop music is a subgenere of Psychadelic music. 

Moore said, “A lot of my work deals with dreams, and unearthing things from the unconscious and bringing them to the conscious”. 

“The Pictures Taken Out of Tune”  album cover depicts one of Moore’s dreams. Moore adds that if you purchase the album you also get a PDF describing in depth the dream that inspired the album. 

This album that Moore released before college is just one of several examples of her multi-media talents. 

“I feel guilty uploading an album to BandCamp and saying buy this unless I have an extra thing to tie it to”. 

“The Castle” her newest single coming out on February 28 “conveys an alienated helplessness toward society hell-bent on conformity”. 

“With “The Castle”, I do not have any text that goes with it but I do have a bonus thing which is a secret that people will have to figure out”. 

Moore likes the idea of myth-making, she wants people who check out her music to be surprised when they get the bonus content and want more. 

Adding to the air of myth-making, Moore during live performances wears a mask, “I like this idea of putting on a mask and separating from yourself”. 

The message Moore wants to convey to her fans is “Do good and be good”. With those final words and a kind smile, I blinked and Nicolette was gone, leaving a trail of light where she was. 

Along with her single coming out, she is having a release show also happening on the 28 at The Resonator in Norman OK.
