AM Wolf interview
Darren Flucas or AM Wolf, is powerfully hitting the local rap scene. From Lawton, OK, 21-year-old Flucas creates his music at home and with his producer Firehead.
The first time Flucas appeared on the timeline was at a Factory Obscura open mic night. At the end of each open mic night, the host, Jarvix, leaves the floor to anyone in the audience who wants to go up and perform.
Flucas stepped up to the stage. He performed with electric energy. The crowd was completely captivated.
Flucas has always had a passion for music. He started rapping around ten years old.
“I would be around the campfire with my uncles just freestyling”.
Flucas started professionally recording his music around 2019.
When Flucas makes a beat for his songs he typically finds a style he likes and then goes to his producer with it. They then collaborate to make the instrumental tracks. Flucas does write all his lyrics.
Flucas’s favorite song to perform is BAKLAVA. “ The amount of time invested into that project took a lot of energy, it’s exciting to get that song out into the ears of the people,” said Flucas.
A huge inspiration for Flucas’s music comes from contemporary musicians. Such as Kendrick Lamar due to the style and vibe.
Flucas currently has many unreleased music for which he is working on press releases.
One of the songs that Flucas intends to release is called “Rising Sun”. This song features not only Flucs rapping but his singing as well. “One thing I’ve been developing more is my singing so I can incorporate it with my songs”.
Flucas has been working on one project at a time. He likes to take his time with his projects. “There will be a steady flow of singles being released until I feel comfortable releasing a full project”.
“I really want to put out a beautiful album with a bunch of different artists from my community”.
Flucas and his producer are currently working on projects to get local artists such as Gavin Taylor to join the AM Wolf “world”.
This fall Flucas plans on releasing an EP. The EP will also feature a short film that will encapsulate the atmosphere of the project visually. Beyond his music career, he has also created a media company called Lead Coat Media.
This media company will not only be posting music but short films as well.
